My New Laundry Room and Pantry

When we first toured our new house I wondered if it would be possible to move the washer and dryer out of the basement and upstairs into a large pantry off the kitchen.  Fred decided it was doable and so began several weeks of work.  The laundry room was more complex than I thought.  Fred had to build drain lines, add an electrical circuit for the washer and a 220 line for the dryer.  Then there was sheet rock work with taping and mudding, which is not Fred’s forte; not to mention how difficult it was to move the washer and dryer upstairs.  But it is so much more convenient having the laundry room right off the kitchen.  I can hear the alarm on the dryer and rush in to fold the clothes before they wrinkle.  There is still lots of shelving to store large pots, small appliances, grocery items and those big packages we buy at Costco.  You know like a hundred rolls of toilet paper, 10 bottles of Listerine and 2 dozen toothbrushes.  Seriously, where are you supposed put all that stuff?

I chose a light blue for the walls.  It reminds me of the sky and makes the room looks so light and airy.  That’s hard to do since there are no windows.  Here are some before pictures and the finished product.  I enjoy doing laundry now.

I absolutely love my new laundry/pantry.  Thank you so much for all your hard work, Fred!
