When we go 4-wheeling in the mountains, one of the things Fred loves is exploring old mining sites. It’s amazing what the miners were capable of building without heavy-lifting equipment. Buildings on steep hillsides you can barely walk on. How did they do it? Sad to see them deteriorating. Some efforts being made to stabilize the old buildings, but really too little, too late.
So our vacations satisfy something for each of us – wildflowers for Helen and mining sites for Fred. Awesome scenery for both! I shot these pics with a telephoto lens. He was way up there!
We also saw more wildflowers. Just love Columbines – state flower of Colorado!
